Did you ever notice that the kindest actions you experience in your life are not necessarily the nicest ones?
Someone who gifts us with an act of kindness is providing us with a way to develop a quiet and stable inner strength. They are challenging us to grow past our limitations and create a new reality for our lives. In contrast, when someone is nice toward us (rather than kind), the action creates an easy excuse not to do or way of side-stepping a challenge, and so there is no growth. When we are the busiest, we are controlled by the physical experiences in our body, and the nice actions are appreciated the most because they soothe us into a false sense of comfort and security. We usually feel endlessly confused and off balance, and we could actually say that nice actions have a blocking or opposite effect to kind actions. There is a gap. Let’s visualize a double rainbow as our bridge to close this gap between nice and kind, so we will only allow acts of kindness into our lives, in order to achieve a more mature sense and responsible ownership of our actions in this world.
First and foremost, we need to train ourselves to take only kind actions toward ourselves. This training is accomplished through study and practice that puts our physical body at the center, but then kindly changes our focus to the experience of energy flowing through and around our body. An effective training method, and gift that is an act of kindness, is Brain Wave Vibration, because a part of our brain exists to connect to this subtle energy vibration. We gain confidence in ourselves and our environment as the connection to life energy is strengthened and stabilized through regular Brain Wave Vibration practice. This is the mid-point of the bridge because it is where our focus shifts to a broader expression of acts of kindness toward others. Instead of being the receiver, we begin to deliver these acts of kindness, and this shift in our consciousness to a realization of unity instead of separateness is what reconnects each of us not only to one another but to the Earth giving us hope as our common bond. Our kind actions naturally expand in scope, and we desire to try and reunite humanity and create harmony as the new reality for everyone.
So why did I use the metaphor of a double rainbow? Rainbows are an arc of light in the sky, an assortment of different colors that co-exist without clashing, and they are a symbol of hope bridging Earth and Heaven. A double rainbow symbolizes that whatever is coming to us will have great meaning in our lives, and it also means enlightenment in action. Hopefully, we will cross the bridge of light and choose only kind actions toward ourselves and others. This is the gap to close so that one good thing leads to another good thing in our own lives, and then we are able to celebrate and share this happiness and good fortune with others.
In conclusion, I would like to share a personal story: In early summer 2008, just after the Chicago stop on the national tour for Ilchi Lee’s book, In Full Bloom, A Brain Education Guide to Successful Aging, and around my birthday (the gift of a personal new year), I had just completed training at my local Dahn Yoga Center. I was in the process of reading the recently published book, Brain Wave Vibration, and preparing to go to the Sedona Mago Retreat Center to complete some advanced training. Interestingly enough, it was heavily raining outside, and, as I was saying good night to everyone at the Center, there was a loud clap of thunder. In response, I jokingly said “Okay, so where is the rainbow, please send us a beautiful rainbow.” I walked out of the Center, and the sun suddenly appeared, along with the most beautiful and vibrantly colored double rainbow over the Center. With tears pouring down my face and standing in the rain and sun at the same time, I profoundly and humbly said “thank you” to Heaven for this symbol of hope and for receiving the act of kindness. It was a confirmation that the personal growth-related challenges ahead of me were about to create the bridge leading to a new reality in my life.
